Stupid Common Man?

Wow I feel great to write after long time.. so much got involved in too many things.. Anyways this post is about common man(not AAP's) i.e about YOU and ME. I will come directly to the story, so over to my cortex. 

Me and my sister were on the way to Davangere from Bangalore on Saturday(1/3/2014) night in VRL sleeper. Around 3am we suddenly heard a bang sound and bus took a twist and turn making everyone in the bus to wake-up. Oops I thought Tyre might have got punctured or an accident?. As I woke up to see what's going on and bus didn't stop and was slowly accelerating as though nothing happened!!

In the mean time the passenger at the front started shouting to open the driver cabin door and the passengers at the last followed him. But initially driver was not ready to open the door, later he stopped when passengers forced him to inquire what went wrong few seconds back. I got down praying nothing major should have happened but I was wrong!

The story so far unfolds from co-passengers, one of the passenger when he got down two times for urinals he was shocked to see driver sleeping in his cabin and mechanic was riding the bus. Initially I thought it happens so what's the big deal. Oops! when I saw mechanic, realized that he was small in age, may be in his PU and inexperienced who was riding with our life. Another passenger who was at front witnessed and recalls what happened few seconds back.

The bus when it was moving in speed touches the divider and looses the control(which is when we heard that big sound) and luckily gains the control again. When he wakes up and tries to open the door, he realizes driver is sitting beside and mechanic that small boy is driving the bus!!. Seeing the passenger tensed driver laughs,ignores him and murmurs something to driving mechanic. On repeated knocking he opens the door and was forced to stop the bus. Then driver tries to convince us saying nothing happened and bus went in pot hole. But when we inquired the bus we could realize the impact of accident which was missed luckily.

 I was in shock for few minutes recalling the previous accidents happened because of hitting the divider and bus getting fire leaving everybody in the bus to ash!!. OMG we just missed the one more similar accident!. I'm lucky to write a blog here today, a rebirth.

By this time everybody realized the impact of accident which was missed, few people were still in shock. Few things made us angry, first one is driver handing over the vehicle to mechanic(he didn't had driving license)and sleep. Second one is taking the mishandling of mechanic for granted. Third one was overloading the bus with luggage on top, as per rules you can't put luggage on top of passenger bus(I was not aware of this and I came to know from my co-passenger). Technically you can't control the bus when it is overloaded with luggage on top.

Everyone in the bus decided to take the matter to VRL and Police. Our Lives should not be taken for granted by driver(for his negligence) and VRL(for overloading the bus with luggage on top). We decided to take the vehicle to Chitradurga VRL office which is 10-12kms from us. In the mean time we informed the police and requested them to come down to Chitradurga VRL office. Passenger who witnessed called to Suvarna news so that they get there lesson and should not play with passenger lives. Hmm but it looked like they lost the interest when he said there was no casualty happened :(

In the VRL office we explained whatever happened and initially VRL insisted to ignore the matter and continue the journey. When we raised our voice against loading the bus with luggage on top. VRL staff was guilty and ensured to remove the luggage. Also scolded the driver for handing the bus to mechanic. But we wanted to take the matter to police so that they think twice before loading the luggage next time and to driver about his negligence. We called to Police many times when we were in VRL office but seems they were looking for us on highway.

Later we decided to take the bus to Chitradurga police station along with VRL staff. In the police station we explained the incident happened and initially police also took the matter lightly because no casualty happened. As expected they also told us it doesn't comes to their jurisdiction. Then everybody raised the voice and insisted them to take the complaint. We were not worried about what is going to happen with our case but wanted to raise the matter and make a point of it. So that they think next time before doing the mistake. Finally police agreed to take the complaint, we narrated the incident on paper and signed on it. Later police told us that they will produce the matter in court and said court may fine for three things a)Mechanic driving without license b)Rash/negligent driving and c)Overloading the vehicle with luggage on top. Police took the bus, driver and mechanic into their custody and VRL arranged different bus to reach Davangere.

 

Two days later  police called me and said they produced in the court and court has fined VRL Rs5000/- for there misdeeds. I cheered myself for the small victory common man encountered.

Now you might be thinking what is the necessity of taking it to the police/media/VRL when no casualty happened. So do we need to wake up only when accident really happens, if it was unfortunate we would have been in hospital or ..... Later government/VRL will announce some money for those who dies and VRL may give 'Vijaya Vani' paper free subscription for 1year. Media will discuss what went wrong, how it could have been avoided, 'how are you feeling?' kind of interviews and blah blah...

I was hurted by the whole incident because everybody wants to take common man for granted be it Driver/VRL(or any service provider for that matter)/Media/Police/etc., Are we so stupid that everyone wants to take ride on our lives? It may be true because we often don't raise our voice when it is required, we don't consider it as our duty being citizen. Only WE can correct the corrupt/irresponsible system.

Now I'm sure some of you might be thinking "Ok yaar now you gave complaint and all that happened. What is the impact of it? Will VRL stop putting luggage on buses? or will drivers stop giving there vehicles to mechanic or cleaners? or will police immediately take complaint next time? or will media publish it next time?. No everything remains as it is.". Yes you might be true for some extent but if every common man like you and me raises his voice every time when any mishap happens in the society or for the person. Then government/service provider/organization/., will consider us serious and give our rights back. Think about it.

Oops I can keep on writing on this and before I make you bore, I will conclude the post by requesting you to raise the voice when required and don't hesitate to reach when required. Consider this as an example and good things can still happen.

Lucia

Huff finally I'm writing for a reason. This time its about a movie in Kannada called 'Lucia'. First time when I heard how the movie is being produced I was jealous because it was my Idea, (See here my old ppt https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/61838033/MyProductnHouse.ppt). Later I felt happy that somebody is implementing it. Of-course the implementation techniques are different.
So I started following the updates about movie only because its about my idea some time back but was implemented by somebody today :)

I know being a Product developer @ work its not easy to market new idea/product in INDIA, its really really difficult. Really great effort by director Pawan Kumar ('Lifeu Ishtene' movie director) and TEAM. While following up I noted down some of the good initiatives/achievements from the team
1. Named as first film to be produced by audience
2. Held audition for singers in online for one of the song 'Thinbeda kammi '
3. All the singers who sang for this movie are new comers
4. One of the singer is from local orchestra
5. The movie music director is a new comer and was a techie before
6. Most of the technicians who worked behind are normal techies like you and me
7. First time in Indian cinema industry, a movie Premiere show is going to be held for normal people. You get a chance to sit beside celebrities and watch movie. To get a premiere movie ticket all you need to do is sing one of the song online and if you perform well you can choose the seat beside your favorite celebrity.
8. Won 'Best audience film' award in London Indian Film Festival
9. Discussions are going on to remake in Hindi

Seeing all this I became the distributor for the movie and its not for the money but for my idea :). Yes I'm one of the distributor and I too get the share when movie releases :). ಕರಿಸಿರಿಯಾನ

ಅಬ್ಬಾ ಎಷ್ಟೊಂದು ತಿಂಗಳಾಯ್ತು ಈ ಬ್ಲಾಗ್ ಬರಿದೆ.. ಇವತ್ತು ಏನೋ ಒಂದು ತರ ಮಜಾ ಅನಿಸ್ತ ಇದೆ ಬರಿಯೋಕ್ಕೆ.. ಹೊಸ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ತಗೊಂಡಾಗ ಅದರ ಮೊದಲ ಹಾಳೆ ಮೇಲೆ ಬರೆಯುವಾಗ ಒಂದು ರೋಮಾಂಚನ ಆಗುತ್ತಲ್ಲ ಆ ರೀತಿ.. ನಾನು ಬರೆದಿರೋ  ಹಳೆ ಕವಿತೆಗಳನ್ನ ಓದಿದರೆ ನಾನೇ ಬರದಿದ್ದ ಅಂತ ಅನುಮಾನ ಬರುತ್ತೆ.. ಪೂರ್ತಿ ಆಗದೆ draft ಆಗೇ ಉಳಿದ  ಕವಿತೆಗಳನ್ನ ಒಂದೇ ಉಸಿರಲ್ಲಿ ಪೂರ್ತಿ ಮಾಡಲ ಅನಿಸುತ್ತೆ... ಹೇಳದೆ ಉಳಿದ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನ ಒಂದೇ ಸಮ ಹೇಳಬೇಕು ಅನಿಸುತ್ತೆ.. ಆದರೆ ಬರಿಬೇಕು ಅಂತ ಕೂತಾಗ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಖಾಲಿ ಖಾಲಿ..ನನ್ನ  ಪದಗಳ ಬಂಧ ಮುಗಿಯಿತ ಅಂತ ಬೇಜಾರ್ ಆಗುತ್ತೆ.. ನಮಗೆ ತುಂಬಾ ಕ್ಲೋಸ್ ಆಗಿದ್ದ ಫ್ರೆಂಡ್ ಬಹಳ ದಿವಸದ ಮೇಲೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಾಗ ಮೌನನೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಮಾತಾಗಿರುತ್ತೆ ಹಾಗೆ..

ಇರಲಿ ನಾನು ಈಗ ಬರಿಯೋಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟಿದ್ದು ಇತ್ತೀಚಿಗೆ ನಾನು ಓದಿದ ಒಂದು ಪುಸ್ತಕದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ, ಪುಸ್ತಕದ ಹೆಸರು 'ಕರಿಸಿರಿಯಾನ '. ಒಂದು ಅದ್ಬುತ ಪುಸ್ತಕ.. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಥೆಗಿಂತ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆ ಎಂದರೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಸೂಕ್ತ. ಈ ಪುಸ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಡುವ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ವಿವರಗಳು ಸತ್ಯ!

ನಮಗೆಲ್ಲ ತಿಳಿದಿರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಹಂಪಿಯ ವಿಜಯನಗರ ಸಾಮ್ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದ ಅಪೂರ್ವ ವಜ್ರ ವೈಡುರ್ಯಗಳು. ನಾವು ಕೇಳಿರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಆಗಿನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂಗಾರವನ್ನ  ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯಾಪಾರ ಮಾಡುತಿದ್ದರು. ನಾವು ಹಂಪಿಗೆ ಹೋದಾಗ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾದರು ಗುಂಡಿ ತೋಡಿದರೆ ನಮಗೆ ಒಂದು ಚೂರು ಬಂಗಾರ ಸಿಗಬಹುದ ಅಂತ ಅನಿಸಿರುತ್ತೆ. ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ವಿಜಯನಗರ ಸಾಮ್ರಾಜ್ಯ ನಾಶವಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅಷ್ಟೂ ಸಂಪತ್ತು/ನಿಧಿ ಎಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಯಿತು? ಇದರ ಹುಡುಕಾಟವೇ ಈ ಪುಸ್ತಕ. ಲೇಖಕ ಕೆ ಏನ್  ಗಣೇಶಯ್ಯ ಅವರು ಒಬ್ಬ ವಿಜ್ಞ್ಯನಿಯು(Agricultural scientist) ಹೌದು. ಅವರ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಯನ್ನ ಒಂದು ಕಥೆಯ ಮುಖಾಂತರ ಹೇಳಲು ಹೊರಟು ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಗೆ ಸಹಕರಿಸಿದವರೇ ಕಥೆಯ ಪಾತ್ರಧಾರಿಗಳಾಗುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಪುಸ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವ ಕೆಲವು ರೋಚಕ ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಲೇಬೇಕು. ವಿಜಯನಗರ ಸಾಮ್ರಾಜ್ಯ ನಾಶವಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ದೇವರಾಯನ ಅಳಿಯ ರಾಮ ರಾಯ ೧೫೦೦ ಆನೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಸಂಪತನ್ನ ಸಾಗಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಕನಿಷ್ಠ ೫೦೦ ಆನೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿಧಿಯನ್ನ ಸಾಗಿಸಿರಬಹುದು. ಒಂದು ಆನೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ೧ ಟನ್ ವಜ್ರ ವೈಡುರ್ಯ ಇತ್ತು ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡರು ಇನ್ನು ೫೦೦ ಆನೆಗಳ ಮೇಲಿದ್ದ ಸಂಪತ್ತು ಅದಿನ್ನೆಷ್ಟು ಇರಬಹುದು!!

ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ವಿಜಯನಗರ ಸಾಮ್ರಾಜ್ಯ ಹೇಗೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿತ್ತು? ಆಮೇಲೆ ಹೇಗೆ ನಾಶವಾಯಿತು? ಆ ನಂತರ ನಿಧಿಗಾಗಿ ಯಾರೆಲ್ಲ ಹೊಡೆದಾಡಿದರು?  ಆ ನಿಧಿ ಈಗಲು ಇರಬಹುದೇ? ಆ ನಿಧಿಯನ್ನ ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಿಸಿದರು? ನಿಧಿ ಇಡುವ ಜಾಗದ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯನ್ನ  ಆ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಪೂರ್ವ ಆಲೋಚನೆಯಾಗಿ ಹೇಗೆ ಕಾಪಾಡಿ ಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದಿದ್ದರು? ಈಗಿರುವ ತಿರುಪತಿ ಅಷ್ಟೊಂದು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧಿ ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ರೀಮಂತ ಹೇಗಾಯಿತು? ತಿರುಪತಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ದೇವರು ನಿಜವಾಗಲು ತಿಮ್ಮಪನೆ ಎನ್ನುವ ಅನುಮಾನ? ಹಂಪಿ ನಗರದ ರಚನೆಯಲ್ಲೇ ಅವರು ಹೇಗೆ ಕೆಲವು ಮಾಹಿತಿಗಳನ್ನ ಇಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರು? ಇದೆಲ್ಲದಕ್ಕು ಉತ್ತರ interesting... ಎಲ್ಲದಕ್ಕೂ ಉತ್ತರ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳುವುದು ಸೂಕ್ತ ಅಲ್ಲ, ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಕೆಲವು ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನ ಮಾತ್ರ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಳ್ತೀನಿ.

ಕಥೆಯ ಸಾರಾಂಶ(ಪುಸ್ತಕದ ಹಿಂದೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿರುವ ಹಾಗೆ): ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರದ ಎತ್ತರದ ಮಂಜು ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ Alexanderನ ಸೈನ್ಯದ ಜೊತೆ ಬಂದ ಗ್ರೀಕ್ ದೇಶದವರೆನ್ನಲಾದ ಒಂದು ಜನಾಂಗದ ಜಾನಪದ ಪದ್ಧತಿಗಳ ಅಧ್ಯಯನದಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿದ್ದ ಯುವ ಸಂಶೋಧಕಿ ಭಾವನಾಳನ್ನು ಭಾರತದ ಸೈನ್ಯವು ಹಟಾತ್ತನೆ ಸೆರೆ ಹಿಡಿದು ಹೊತೋಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಅದೇ ವೇಳೆಗೆ, ಅಕಸ್ಮಾತ್ ಆಗಿ ದೊರಕಿದ ಹಂಪಿಯ ನಾಡು ಜನರ, ಜಾನಪದ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯೊಂದರ ಬೆನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿ ತಿರುಪತಿಯ ಬೆಟ್ಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ರಹಸ್ಯವೊಂದನ್ನು ಅರಸಿ ಹೊರಟಿದ್ದ ಪೂಜಾಳನ್ನು ಸಿ.ಬಿ.ಐ ಬಂಧಿಸಿ ಕರೆದೊಯುತ್ತದೆ. ತಾವು ಈ ಸೆರೆಯಿಂದ ಮುಕ್ತಿ ಹೊಂದುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಕಂಡುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯ ರಹಸ್ಯಗಳು, ವಿಜಯನಗರ ಕಾಲದ ಧರ್ಮ, ರಾಜಕೀಯದ ಸುತ್ತ ಬೆಳೆದ ಅಗಾಧ ನಿಧಿಯ ಸತ್ಯದತ್ತ ಕೆರೆದೊಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಆ ನಿಧಿಯ ಹುಡುಕಾಟವೇ ಕರಿಸಿರಿಯಾನ!

ನಿಧಿ ಇರುವ ಜಾಗದ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯನ್ನ ಜಾನಪದ ಹಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ encodeಮಾಡಿ ಇಡುತಿದ್ದರು. ಈ ಹಾಡುಗಳನ್ನ ಕಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸುವ ಗಿರಿ ಜನರು ಅಥವಾ ಹೆಳವರ ಜನಾಂಗದ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ತ ಮಾತ್ರ ರಾಜರ ಮುಂದೆ ಹಾಡುತಿದ್ದ ಮತ್ತು ಹಾಡುವಾಗ ಮೈ ಮೇಲೆ ಒಂದು ಚರ್ಮದ ಕವಚವನ್ನ ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡು ಕೆಲವು ಭಂಗಿಗಳನ್ನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಹಾಡುತಿದ್ದ. ಆ ಜಾನಪದ ಹಾಡು, ಕವಚದ ಮೇಲಿನ ನಕ್ಷೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅವನ ಭಂಗಿಯನ್ನ decode ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ನಿಧಿ ಇರುವ ಜಾಗ ತಿಳಿಯುತ್ತಿತ್ತು!!! ಜನಾಂಗದ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ತ ತಾನು ಸಾಯವಾಗ ತನ್ನ ಮುಂದಿನ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ತನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿಕೊಡುತಿದ್ದ. ಹೀಗೆ ಅದರ ರಹಸ್ಯವನ್ನ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಕಾಪಾಡಿ ಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದಿದ್ದರು. ನಿಧಿಯನ್ನ ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಎರಡು ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಚ್ಚಿಡುತ್ತಾರೆ ಒಂದು ಹಂಪಿಯ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ತಿರುಪತಿಯ ಹತ್ತಿರ.

ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ನಿಧಿ ಇರುವ ಜಾಗ ಹೇಗೆ ಸಿಗುತ್ತೆ? ಆ ಜಾನಪದ ಹಾಡನ್ನ ಹೇಗೆ ಬಿಡಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ? ಮತ್ತು ಮುಂಚೆ ಹೇಳಿದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತರ ಪುಸ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಈಗ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹಂಪಿ ವಿಜಯನಗರ ಸಾಮ್ರಾಜ್ಯದ ನಿಧಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಒಂದು ಸಣ್ಣ ಕುತೂಹಲ ಮೂಡಿದರೆ ನನ್ನ ಈ ಬರಹ ಸಾರ್ಥಕ...
